Dictation Machines
Dictation machines or Dictaphones are used to record speech for playback and transcription at a later time. There are two types, analogue dictation machines, which record on to mini tapes or cassettes and digital dictation machines, which record on to solid-state memory cards or chips. Many digital dictation machines can be integrated with a PC for quick and easy editing and copying of files which can then be emailed. Some models come with speech recognition and transcription software, doing away with the need to type out a transcription.
